I've just suffered a failure of my Trident 8900D video card, and have had to reinstall my elderly (about 5 years old) Compudyne VGA 1024 video card into my PC. The card uses (I think) the ET4000 chip, and has 512k of video RAM on board. The disk that came with the card when I bought it in the USA in 1991 includes a driver for Windows 3.0; it'll give 640 x 480 x 256, 800 x 600 x 16 and (interlaced) 1024 x 768 x 16. I've set it up to the 800 x 600 mode (under Win 3.1), and have found that the font size is undesirably large when compared to the Trident card. Does anyone know of any ftp or Web sites where I might find some more recent drivers either specifically for the Compudyne card or generically for the ET4000 chip? Ideally I'd like to get back to using 800 x 600 x 256, with a smaller font. TIA, -- Martin Davies

Not in IP support question -- maybe demon.tech.pc is the place?
You may actually have a slightly better video card now, except for the
memory. There are drivers out there, but not obviously labelled for the
ET4000 chipset. The drivers I used for my ET4000 were ISTR labelled as
for a brandname of Boca... They were on a CD-ROM of the old CICA
windows software site.
