I have a 525Mb parallel port tape streamer which <in DOS :-)> uses an ASPI driver and a piece os obscure backup software called "Elite". This tape drive is made by "Storage Techniques" - I think they are no longer with us... Question:- now that I have finally taken the plunge and moved over to Win95, does anyone have any suggestions, pointers, or even software that I can use to drive a device like this under Win95. I could continue to use it in DOIS mode, but it would become a nightmare with the longer filemanes. Hope you can help. John T.

Don't you like the way Win95 converts long filenames to 8.3 format? If not, do this: Start REGEDIT and open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\ CurrentControlSet\ control\ FileSystem. Then create a binary value named NameNumericTail and set it to 0 (zero). The tildes and numbers of long filenames are no longer displayed. Win95 will only start adding numbers if you have more than one short name with the same 8.3 result. Tom Lake
