I recently got codebase 4 for some work on a 3com network. As the other
fellow said, the data entry/windows is very basic. Locking is
accomplished by either locking a block of records or the complete file.
In the manual, codebase explains that it will automatically upgrade the
lock to a file lock if it needs to (what ever that means?). I was
generally displeased with this product. I have used far better dbms
lib toolkits. Have you looked at Raima's db_FILE or db_VISTA products?
They have an optional package with which you can read and write lotus and
dBase files. I also have this package, and it is surperb. The manuals
are excellent, and telephone support is very prompt.

Good luck.
