Help in Compiling ELM mailer on the RT

I just got the new version of ELm 2.4.  When I try to compile it it
blows up.  I run the configure file.  Type make.  And then it starts,
but, stops after about 5-10 seconds.  Anyone else have the same problem?
Anyone conquered the problem?  I would appreciate any hel
