Hi !! I am trying to program the PC dma controller to do any stupid thing...just trying to learn how it works...does anyone have a simple -SIMPLE- code performing something not too complicated? ( eg: moving into video memory an image using memory to memory tranfer mode...something not too twisted..or just moving in memory a asciiz message and using DOS print string function check that is has actually moved...I don't know.) If possible in C or assembler.... Thanks Ariel/

( eg: moving into S> video S> memory an image using memory to memory tranfer mode...something not too I tried memory-to-memory transfer on many machines, never it was working correctly (the DMA chip supports it, but machine doesn't). On present machines it is nonsense - DMA transfer slows programs (by using bus) more than using CPU for the transfer. The problem was already discussed many times...
