             VOCALTEC REMOVES COST, PERFORMANCE BARRIERS TO PC }
          AUDIO APPLICATIONS WITH VOCALTEC VOICE COMPRESSION }CARD
==============================================================================

The VCC is the first sound card to use 14.5-to-1 data compression, squeezing }
one second of speech into only 800 bytes of storage space or network }
bandwidth -- compared to 4,000 bytes or more per second with other audio }
products. This is the equivalent of storing 35 minutes of conversation on a
3.5-}inch floppy diskette.  This enables hardware manufacturers, software }
developers, telecommunications service providers and others to improve }
existing audio performance or add high-quality audio for applications }
including:}

}*	Voice over data on existing phone lines
}*	Voice conferencing over public bulletin board services
}*	Voice messaging over public e-mail services
}*	Audio communications via personal digital assistants and other portable
}	devices
}*	Audio databases
}*	Applications-sharing with voice capabilities
}*	Training and documentation
}*	Voice annotation of word processing and spreadsheet documents
}*	Smaller, high capacity PC-based voice mail systems
}*	Improved dictation systems
}*	Multimedia applications
}*	Audio books on diskette

By combining excellent sound quality and data compression, The VCC }
removes many of the performance and capacity barriers that have limited the }
use of audio to specialized applications such as CD-ROM-based multimedia.}

The VCC uses the TrueSpeech TM data compression algorithm that is }
supported by Microsoft Windows and other software, ensuring widespread }
availability and compatibility. The VCC acts as a TrueSpeech accelerator for }
Windows and improves overall system performance by offloading audio }
processing to the board from the system's CPU. The VCC also features }
}"FlexiSpeech," which allows users to change the speed of playback according }
to how fast or slow they need to hear the sound for applications such as }
transcription.}

}"The VCC is the first product of its kind to overcome the performance barriers }
that limit the use of PC-based audio," said Dr. Elon A. Ganor, President and }
CEO of VocalTec.  "We expect that many manufacturers, developers and users }
will begin to move quickly to take advantage of the low-cost, high-quality }
audio communications that the VCC provides".}

Available in 60 days from VocalTec, the VCC is priced at $359 for half-duplex }
communications (one-way communications at a time like a speakerphone) or }
}$499 for full-duplex communications (simultaneous two-way communications }
like a telephone). The VCC requires Microsoft Windows 3.1 and a PC with a }
}386 or greater processor. The card fits into any ISA-compatible expansion slot
and creates standard WAV or higher-quality }13-bit WAV files. The VCC supports
and TrueSpeech-compatible audio }software, including VocalTec's VocalChat
software for office voice }communications, audio conferencing and voice
messaging over local and wide }area networks.}

Founded in 1991, VocalTec, Inc. is an international developer and marketer of }
office voice communications and messaging solutions for multimedia and }
workgroup computing.  Its products are at the forefront of computer audio }
conferencing and are designed to improve productivity, reduce communications }
costs and maximize business investments in network technology.  VocalTec is }
based in Northvale, N.J., with research and development facilities in Israel.}
