Since upgrading (?) from Windows 95 to 98 I have a problem with wave sound in some programs. I get the error "MMSYSTEM326 No wave device that can play files in the current format is installed" in Media Player. Some other programs simply don't produce sound effects and others report that the wave device is busy. But, Media Player 5 and Quicktime can both produce wave sound. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this? I've tried the Windows troubleshooter, but everything is correct. I've bought a new sound card (which I was going to anyway), but installing this has not fixed the problem. The previous sound card worked fine in 95. -- Peter Crighton Email To: peter@p-cright.demon.co.uk

As you have not told us what the new sound card is this is fairly Generic, The problem is caused by the drivers remove them and any remnents of the old card, Reboot machine Check IRQ's etc in device manager Install New Drivers, Reboot Machine Install MS directX 6.1 Should be all ok
