Thoughts on Yamaha YMF724 XG sp/dif?

I use a Xitel Storm Platinum which is a Vortex2 PCI card with
optical out which is excellent used with a minidisc recorder
and a surround decoder/dac.

I found a Yamaha YMF724 XG PCI soundcard at work (we have lots
of free hardware at work) and it has an internal sp/dif block
on it. It is a 4 pin connector just like the MPC cd audio
connectors. I wonder how well it works as an sp/dif input/output
device? I see Hoontech have a card based on this. Any good?

The Yamaha seems like a decent card. Any sp/dif issues like
the ones with the Live? I wonder if I can purchase just the
digital i/o bracket and slap it onto my free Yamaha soundcard?

I'm usually not so cheap but Aureal in association with
Diamond and Xitel have most of my soundcard budget.
And you know, I like to take advantage of free hardware.
