Thanks to all the people that responded to my query for alternative sites to SIMTEL20 for anonymous ftp of PC software. Just for anyone else that didn't know, several people correctly pointed out that wuarchive.wustl.edu (128.252.135.4) maintains a mirror image of the SIMTEL msdos archives in /mirrors/msdos. As some people also pointed out, this site can be just as slow as SIMTEL20. A quick check confirmed this. On a sunday afternoon, I got 0.18 kbyte/s transferring the complete index (417K). I would say this is even slower than SIMTEL20 but at least it didn't time out half way through the transfer, and I didn't have any problem getting a connection. I have a feeling that my site is on the slow side for internet connections to begin with, so your mileage may vary. John Kellow kellow@ndcheg.cheg.nd.edu
