I have a 20MHz 486sx system at home and was wondering if anyone could
help answer the following questions:
1) I was hoping to be able to upgrade to a higher speed, full DX
part at some time in the future. I imagine being able to buy
an Overdrive chip which would run internally at 40 Mhz (using
clock doubling). Is this achievable now, or will it be in the
future?
2) (This could be posted to other groups, I'd like to keep it in the
same thread as the previous question). When running MSDOS 5.0
the memory manager doesn't seem to recognise the control
mechanism for the A20 line on power-up, and refuses to load
SmartDrive although other TSRs and DOS itself get loaded into
high memory. After a few Ctrl-Alt-Dels though, EMM386 does
recognise the high memory properly. Once the machine is warmed
up, each reboot works right. This doesn't seem right to me,
I don't think we're talking about a mechanical relay that's sticking
here..., any ideas what's happening?
