Two drives and then the >message happens (Incoming message not found) ! This is a symptom of outdated software (:-). You're running issue 2.1. Update to 2.2 and the problem will disappear. The message is harmless by the way; it is a debug warning that was not removed. The solution is not to use the console (use a VT); then it won't intrude. >However, when I perform >a job that requires a lot of transferts between the two drives, the >system hangs : I can still have acces to "/" or "/usr", but not to >"/usr3" (the slice representing the whole second drive). Uh, are you getting a "***** RESET" (where the "*****" is a message describing the adapter and target numbers) on the console? If you are, then you have problems with the >drive<. What is the second drive make and model? Is it a Maxtor 4380S by any chance? The older 4380s have had trouble in this area. It seems to be particular to some drives. If you're having this problem you will see the "RESET" message on the console; that is bad news (as in the drive is inaccessible until you reboot once it happens, and any attempt to access it hangs the process). >Of course, I looked at terminators, drive numbers, etc. > >PLEASE, HELP! I NEED TO FIX IT QUICK !!!!!! ANY HINT WELCOME ! See above... Upgrading to 2.2 might fix this; it certainly will help. -- Karl Denninger (karl@ddsw1.MCS.COM, <well-connected>!ddsw1!karl) Data Line: [+1 312 248-0900] Anon. arch.
