Intel hHEX format

There is a download protocol called "Intel HEX". The
records are in ASCII Hex format, and are preceded with a colon character.

I have built an 8051 SBC, and have an assembler that outputs in intel hex
format, but I don't know how to read it (eventually I have to write ROM
code to accept downloading in Intel hex).

I used the protocol about 8 years ago, but lost the source code
and documentation. I remember that its very simple, there is about 4 or
5 record formats (I think).

Can someone send me a description so I can write code to download
Intel hex?
