IBM claimed good results with their initial RS/6000 implementation, due
to extensive simulation during design:
The software developers were able to bring up a development version
of the AIX operating system on the first-pass hardware successfully
and continue development and testing of the software on the
first-pass hardware without major hardware problem. A few
additional functional problems were found in the hardware after
simulation.

There was one documented hardware bug in the released hardware. I don't
know if has since been fixed.
