Running MS-Windows give you a toy, running Unix ] just gives you an expensive toy that needs a sysadmin. Real work is done on ] mainframe with card readers. No, No, No. You still have it wrong. If your monitor is monochrome inclusive-or less than 16" diagonal measure inclusive-or has a dot-pitch greater than 0.31mm incusive-or the display adaptor has less than 0.75 megapixels inclusive-or your computer takes more than 0.2 seconds to completely redraw it, you have a toy. Real workstations have at LEAST a 16" color monitor with no more than a .31mm dot pitch on which is dispayled at least 0.75 megapixels than can be redrawn in under 0.2sec; real engineering workstations have at LEAST a 19" color monitor with no more than a .28mm dot pitch displaying at least a megapixel that can be redrawn in 0.1sec (altho an exemption is granted to the last if you are running X-windows). After all, the monitor IS the computer, really. That's why they cost so much more than the same size TV, right ? Sure I'm serious about this. Sure I am. Uh huh. Yepp. Really ! ;-) -- Dennis O'Connor doconnor@sedona.intel.com
