iPSC/2 query

i've been having problems with the hrecv() function implemented
for the iPSC/2. i've built a bare-bones test implementation involving
just 2 nodes. each sends 1 msg to the other [recv'd via hrecv()]
and expects an acknowledgment [sent using csend() inside the hrecv()'s
handling procedure]. sometimes the program runs fine to completion,
but about 50% of the time the program hangs. using printf()s to debug,
my conclusion is that the handling procedure invoked by a msg recv
using hrecv() sometimes does not return properly.

has anyone else come across this problem, and if so, is my conclusion
well-founded? any suggestions or comments otherwise?

any help is appreciated. (i've tried decon without much success in even
getting the application to run with breakpoints without crashing the
entire system.) it's driving me crazy.
