The c source code for the Secure Hash Function proposed by the U.S. Government as part of Capstone took almost 15 minutes to compile on my computer (486DX2-50, 16 meg ram running OS/2). The compiler was IBM C version 3.0. Note that the code is completely OS independent. -- feustel@netcom.com Dave Feustel N9MYI For PGP Public Key, finger feustel@netcom.com Fort Wayne, IN Or else access http://serv2.fwi.com/~feustel/ 219-483-1857

I think that VAC is doing something strange in the way it handles #define macros. -- feustel@netcom.com *** Note New Web Page URL *** Dave Feustel N9MYI For PGP Public Key, finger feustel@netcom.com Fort Wayne, IN Or else access http://www.mixi.net/~feustel/ 219-483-1857

My implementation of SHA is only about 200 lines long, totally OS independent, and takes about 1 second to compile on my Pentium. I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing, though...

I'm not sure if we're talking about : the same thing, though... That's it. The code is not large, but #define macros are used to generate most of the code. My machine took so long to compile this code that I aborted the compiler 3 times thinking that it had gotten into an infinite loop. Finally I just did something else until it finished ( a long time later!) I'm running Warp Connect on a 486DX2-50 with 16 meg ram and no off-chip cache. -- feustel@netcom.com *** Note New Web Page URL *** Dave Feustel N9MYI For PGP Public Key, finger feustel@netcom.com Fort Wayne, IN Or else access http://www.mixi.net/~feustel/ 219-483-1857
