VLSI PCI BUS TO ISA PLUG 'N PLAY BRIDGE

Not exactly a processor question and I hope it's not too off-topic, but
it does have to do with internal system buses. This weekend I bought and
installed an HP Colorado T1000 tape drive. After installing it I noticed
my Win95 Device manager had a problem/conflict notation in the System
group on the *VLSI PCI Bus to ISA Plug 'n Play Bridge* line. Properties
showed *Device Failure. Code2. Try changing drivers.*

After fiddling for a bit, I have come to the conclusion that I indeed
have a driver/DMA/IRQ conflict (my audio is a bit fuzzy now too, so
that's probably the other end of the conflict). However, could somebody
please explain what this bus and bridge are, how it was likely affected
by the tape drive and how it is affecting my audio.

My interest is more in the architecture than the solution, as I have
already emailed HP for a fix (black hole maybe?). However, if anyone has
been thru this themselves and would like to send suggestions to my email
address below in the interim, I'd also be grateful.
