Endeavour MB and VGA problems?

I've spent some weeks configuring several EV boards with both ISA and
PCI VGA cards. The PCI cards have all been one version or other of the
DS VRAM 2MB card.

Today I tried a Creative ST300 Videoblaster as well as a WD ISA 1MB
card. IRQ for the RT300 defaults to 10 so I told the BIOS that 10 was
to be allocated to ISA. To be safe, I gave 9 to the ISA WD card too.

After 10 hours with onoy one lucky, ephemeral period where Premiere LE
saw the RT300's driver, I finally gave up. Sometimes the system would
bleep three times and not boot, others the video screen showed nothing
but it looked like it was booting otherwise..

I've encountered this problem with the video cards on the EV several
times in recent weeks. I used to thnk it might be a problem with the
cards not being seated in the slots properly, but now I'm not so sure.

Hqas anyone else encountered these Video card problems, and does anyone
know what it might be?

Anyone got an RT300 running in a 120MHz pentium based EV board?? If so,
what IRQ and memory address? Any EMMExclude areas?

You do know that 9 is a redirection IRQ, and is equivalent to IRQ2. The
Endeavour's MIDI port also requires IRQ2, so maybe you have a conflict?
Disable the IRQ on the graphics card - they never need them.

Marcus Bainbridge, wondering why you'd want an ISA graphics card on a P5 board

I can't disable the Western Digital 1MB VGA card's IRQ9 as I don't know
what the 5 DIP switches on the back of the card (beneath the VGA socket)
do. The tip about the midi interface is much appreciated, I'll go and
make that 'available'.

I'm still having these problems with the system bleeping sometimes when
I have messed around inside it for a while.

Reason for the ISA card at the moment is I am short of PCIs. I was defrauded
of 950 pounds on the net just before xmas. That was partially for 2
Matrox Milleniums for the Endeavour based systems. However, the problem
I describe above happens with VGA cards in the ISA *or* the PCI slots,
so it's something to do with the board or case I think. I know I'm not
alone with this problem...

It's a high quality board, I'm beginning to wonder about the case....
