I spent some time checking out an Endeavour Board yesterday, prior to buying it. As the leads had not been provided, I ended up taking my own board out of the system unit and just plugging everything onto the new board. The new board was a ZIF socket 7 and my own board is a ZIF socket 5. (Oddly, the numbering on CPU speed was for slower CPUs on the Socket 7!) Anyway, the problem I encountered was with the 2ry IDE controller socket. I had my Conner 1.2GB drive on my own system, connected to the 2ny controller and all worked fine. System booted up, and auto-detected the hard disk. When I swapped the boards, the Socket 7 board could not see the hard disk. I checked setup and nothing I did rectified this problem. When I plugged my drive into the 1ry socket, it *did* recognise the drive. I attached another drive, and same problem, the Socket 7 based board would see a hard disk on 1ry, but not on 2ry IDE. This was not a problem on the socket 5 based board. Is this a known problem, or something possibly unique to this particular socket 7 board? Second question:: I was thinking of getting a NCR810 SCSI controller. Is the required BIOS built in to the Endeavour board? -- David Longley

I have several Endevour boards using both EIDE channels, both for
CD-ROM and HDD. Are you sure that the channel is enabled in BIOS.

Hmm. Gee....I don't know - is this a quiz? (Note the newsgroups)
If it has been answered do tell, maybe I missed it...The manual
(disk based) makes reference to a punch out for a SCSI-2, but I
can't find any reference to NCR.
