Notebook RAM advice

Hi folks,

My friend has a Compaq Concerto 486 with 4MB RAM. She intends to
increase it by 8MB to 12MB soon. She needs it for running MS Access
and net-surfing.

Does anyone has any experience with increasing RAM for this notebook?
Specifically, which RAM is good, how much is the cost, any dramatic
increase in speed?

We heard of Kingston. Is it good?

As far as I know Compaq uses proprietary ram. The compaqs I've seen
have the ram installed on a card which is fitted onto a panel at the
back. Its easy enough to put in. I once took apart a compaq notebook
to see what compnents they used. But because its not standard ram you
probaly have to buy the ram from Compaq.
