Reading downloaded text files

OK, a simple problem. I download a program (in this case, System 7 Pack) from
AOL, and along with the application, I get three informational files. Two have
text icons; I double click on them, bring up Teachtext, and read them. One file,
(the most important one) has a plain (blank) document icon. I try MacWrite,
Teachtext, McSink, and nothing will open it. I'm getting the standard, "XXX
cannot be opened because the program that created it cannot be found".

I'm sure I'm missing something here. I'm up for public (or email) advice.

Thanks group.
