One of our Business Units has been looking at DOS software to perform a
specific business function. Being a Mac campus, we've investigated the
possibility of Mac software that performs the same function - there is
none. So, we are now investigating the possibility of running the
software on a Mac using SoftAT.

I checked with the vendor and the software could run - the requirments
are 28mb of disk space, 640k - 1mb of RAM, and VGA or EGA video.
However, the vendor has expressed reservations about our attempt to use
SoftAT. They suggest a 386 or 486 DOS system and feel that the
Mac/SoftAT combination may not have the needed processing power. At this
point, a trial run may not be possible - the vendor usually does an
install/training session when the software is delivered. They don't seem
particularly eager to let us try the software.

If anyone has any comments about using a Mac running SoftAT for demanding
DOS applications, it would be a big help with this decision. The office
in question has a IIsi installed, but we could go better than that within
reason if its necessary.
