The New York Times Science Times had an article on this yesterday (5
January 1993). They recommend Quicken if you want things quick and
painless, and MYM if you view managing your finances as "serious fun".

I just got MYM after using Quicken for a year, because I'd heard from
several people that MYM is better. I think it's better for some
stuff, but I'm disappointed so far in other respects where I think
Quicken got it right. (E.g., reconciling a bank statement asks if it
should add a finance charge and/or interest payment.) I haven't read
through the manual much yet, though, and I've heard this is crucial.
So I'll reserve judgment for now. I may stick with MYM or may switch
back to Quicken.
