Don't be misled by the names of these applications! :-)

GIFConverter will open JPEG files for you, as long as you have
QuickTime and a god-awful amount of memory.  It will also, as
its name implies, load GIF files.

JPEGView, which requires QuickTime to begin with, will open GIF files
for you, as well as the advertised JPEG files, with much less memory
overhead than GIFConverter.

Both applications let you open PICT files; GIFConverter will handle
several other formats as well.

JPEGView continues to be called JPEGView for historical reasons (e.g.,
name recognition).  I suspect GIFConverter has similar reasons for
keeping its name, but I won't say for sure, since I didn't write it.

In any case, if you have GIFs and/or JPEGs, try out both viewers and
decide for yourself.
