I haven't followed all of this thread so the following may be redundant. Unusual combinations of diacritical marks can be accomplished in Word using the formula operators, which include overstrike and fine positioning controls. This process is laborious and will require experimentation, but the finished composites can be entered into the glossary and used with reasonable convenience thereafter. Also, the equation editors available with Word or FrameMaker, or the freestanding ones (MathType, Expressionist) can be used to create most desired characters. However, since equation editors aren't really targeted at handling overstrikes, this could be an awkward solution. If you need very high precision in the resulting letters, you could prepare them in a high quality drawing program such as FreeHand or Illustrator, then export them to Word as pictures. Again, you could create a glossary of the letters and insert the tiny pictures this way. Yet another alternative is to create your own PostScript font using Fontographer. -------- Tom Kent Internet: kent@centauri.dmc.com Sophist Solutions UUCP: ...uunet!thehulk!kent 375 Pond St. CompuServe: 73300.2677@compuserve.com Dunstable, MA 01827 Office: (508) 649-9968
