Has anyone tried the $80 fax/modem offered with the MacInTax upgrade?

I posted a query (included below) about this on comp.sys.mac.comm.
Since there are so many MacinTax upgraders on this group, perhaps
someone here can comment on the fax/modem hardware or software? Is it
worth getting, or does it work as badly as MacinTax itself? Followups
are directed to comp.sys.mac.comm, where I posted the original query.
Any & all information appreciated. thanks, Margot

Subject: $80 fax/modem? (SmartOne 9624FX Mac, QuickLink; Macintax Offer)

I'd like to know if the $80 fax/modem offered with MacinTax upgrades
is worth it? It is a Best Products SmartOne 9624FX for the Mac, with
QuickLink software (couldn't get them to tell me which version). Does
anyone have any comments or experience with this hardware? Suggestions
for preferable products in the same price range?
(Detailed specs at the end of this message).

Is QuickLink plus whatever else it has a reasonable software interface?
(they claim it can work with any other fax/modem software so are there
suggestions for alternative software I should obtain instead?).

If this has been discussed in the past, pointers to back messages or
FAQ appreciated. Thanks for any info.
