  Also in public forums.  I saw Kai-Fu Lee give a demo of the
Galatea text-to-speech technology at Xerox Parc late last year.

  They showed it last May at the developer conference, and I'd been
hearing rumours about an imminent release for a year or so before
that.  I suspect that they may be waiting either for Casper to become
a reality, so they can market them together, or else they're waiting
for the DSP-equipped Macs to emerge since they will probably require
significant rewrites of any sound code (such as a TTS product).
