I was wondering if anyone had any UNIX utilities for cleaning up text.
fmt and col don't seem to be as robust as I need. The problem I'm having
is that Macs seem to think that when I export to ASCII TEXT that it can
go ahead and throw anything above 127 in there as well. This includes those
pretty-double-quotes and other formatting stuff.
The files are coming from QuarkXpress, through Word and being exported
as Text. I've tried all of the different formats: PC Text, UNIX, etc and they
all have the same cruft in 'em.
I can write it myself but I hate re-inventing the wheel
Any help would be greatly appreaciated!
(I don't usually keep up with these groups so please respond via mail)
