What can happen is the font suitcase itself can get corrupted. If that happens then you'll go crazy trying to figure out what's going on. (I just went through this!) To check your font suitcase, open it with Font/DA Mover and select each font in the suitcase. If one of the fonts is corrupted/damaged, Font/DA Mover won't show you what the font looks like, or will tell you that the suitcase is damaged. Cheers!
