That is very theoretical.

For repetitive CPU-bound tasks on a G3 with sufficient RAM, VPC can
achieve the speed of a Pentium running about half the clock speed of the
Mac. Running an older operating system generally improves the
performance (DOS is better than Win95, which is better than Win98).

For anything involving complex graphics and/or sound, it runs a lot
slower. Graphics in general are slower than on a real PC - screen
updates in Windows are noticeably jerky compared to a real PC.

Games are a good example: anything complex will run very poorly on VPC.

I've tried the following on VPC running Win95 with my iMac DV (400 MHz
G3).

Command & Conquer DOS version: works fine.
Command & Conquer Win95 version: sluggish.
Red Alert Win95 version: sluggish to very slow.
Dune 2000 Win95 version: sluggish.
C&C Tiberian Sun: hardly even updates the screen. Unplayable.
StarCraft Win95: a little slower than it should be, but usable.

C&C DOS requires a 33 MHz 486, so VPC is definitely faster than that.

StarCraft requires a 90 MHz Pentium, suggesting that for this type of
program, VPC is running at something between 75 and 90 MHz on my iMac.

Dune2000 requires a P90 and recommends a P133.

Tiberian Sun requires a P166 and recommends a P200. VPC is nowhere near
this speed. (I've played Tiberian Sun on a PC with a P233, and it was
sluggish but playable.)
