6100/60AV running System 9 is sloooooowwww :-(

I've upgraded my 6100/60AV to an iMac SE, and thought I'd network them which
I've done.

One reason I upgraded is that the 6100 had become unbearably slow (even with
72Mb of RAM), plus little disk space left.

Getting the iMac on board, I was able to re-initialise the 6100 hard disk,
and freshly instal it with System 9, expecting a drastic performance
improvement. No such luck. It's slower than ever!

Has anyone got any tips for how to speed things up on the 6100? I've changed
it down from millions of colours to thousands, turned off a couple of
unnecessary extensions, freed up lots of disk space. What more can I do?

Any suggestions appreciated.
