Pagemaker 5.0 problems with foreign fonts...

We do lots of dtp'ing in foreign languages, and we have tried to move
to Pagemaker 5.0 from 4.2, but find that kerning is handled abismally in
5.0 for languages like vietnamese and russian.

Anybody know why? Are there any workarounds?
