DVIM72-Mac Prints Blank Pages on HP DeskWriter

I am running DVIM72-Mac version 1.9.5 on a IIsi running system 7.0.1
with an HP DeskWriter using driver software version 3.1.  My problem
is that, when I try to print a largish dvi file (e.g., more than 6
pages), the printer prints some or all of the pages blank.  I have
tried everything I can think of (increasing the memory partition of
DVIM72-Mac from 220 to 1024; turning background printing on and off),
but nothing seems to help except printing the file in small pieces.

Jim Walker, the designer of DVIM72-Mac can't figure out what's wrong.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
