My organization, which spans manufacturing and engineering sites around the world, has had serious problems with conversions from Word 5.1 to Word 6. We get random distortions in drawings and scanned images, which renders the documents useless. This problem seemed to appear with Word 6. We routinely use the converter which Maire mentions, and it works very well on text and photos. The graphics distortion is infuriating! There is no consistency to it. The way an individual document will behave seems to be determined by a combination of factors: Mac model, Word version, available RAM, graphic source (usually MacDraw/ClarisDraw, some others...), phase of the moon, background radiation count, ambient temperature, humidity, and/or pollen count. A document may display & print fine on my station in the morning, and fail in the afternoon. If we edit a distorted graphic, it will correct itself - temporarily. I've looked at MicroSoft's website, but there is no mention of such a problem. Others in our organization have called MS, and been told that the problem is with the graphics, not Word. Many of these drawings have been successfully embedded in our documents for years, through multiple revisions, multiple Mac OS changes, various 68K & PPC platforms, and the problems didn't arise until Word 6 arrived on the scene. Hmmmm... We've found a couple of workarounds, but they're pretty labor intensive. Has anyone got any suggestions!!?? Ron
