Hello All,
I work at the U of Oregon in the Biology Mac Lab.  Here we provide access
to University students and staff to Macs ranging from Mac II's to 7200's.
Since an educational grant paid for the computers, they want to know what
they are being used for.  So, I am wondering if anyone has heard of or
seen software that can silently check on a network of computers and 
record what is being used, for how long, and how often.  Also, over the
years, the lab has lent out computers and other bits of hardware to many
places on campus.  We also would like find software that can search on
a network and tally the hardware configurations, hard drive space, 
installed software, or any other important info for an inventory list.
