We're also talking Tech Notes, not Ten Commandments (e.g. not written in
stone). There are still System 7.0 features that are not 'per spec' as they
were discussed at that fateful WWDC in 1989. Many of the original 'features'
were postponed until Pink. You probably would not have wanted to wait for
MacDraw Pro to perfect the use of Line Layout Manager, since it was dropped
until 7.1 or so. The fact that 7.0 was late did not give us registered
developers 'more time', it actually just kept us guessing a little longer if
Apple had removed a parameter from an AppleEvent rountine, or some other such
non-sense, so that our products would break the INSTANT 7.0 shipped. ;)

Believe it or not, there is not a direct mind link between Apple system
software engineers and Claris developers. Apple is a large corporation, with
many different R&D departments. Communication breaks down.

As a Claris veteran (empl #173), I can say that there was NO special treatment,
when Claris was a separate (??) company. We were treated as fourth-class
developers. I had friends, with their OWN companies, who were getting seed
machines / system software MONTHS before Claris did.

Just $.02 from someone who has done time in the big house. er. big wedge?
