how to unset Excel password

I used to have a method for unprotecting Excel spreadsheets for which
the password had been lost.  Now I've lost my notes!!!  Does anyone remember
how this is done in version 2.2 (or even the older version??).  

Please reply via email.   I don't read this group that often.
