I had a fairly long conversation with Justin Case at Alysis tonight (800 numbers are wonderful things), and he's unaware of any incompatibilities between MDS 1.2 and System 7.1. On the other hand he was also unaware that a non-beta 7.1 had shipped until I told him. This is yet another reason Apple should make software updates freely available, i.e. so that developers can get release versions quickly enough to fully test their software and support early adopters. Justin did, however, promise that if MDS 1.2 is indeed incompatible with System 7.1, then there would be a free upgrade to a compatible version (likely 1.3, not 2.0).
