I've done this sort of thing before by:

1 create a new, blank PM4 doc

2 Choose File, Place

3 Select the PM4 doc that you want to get stories from
  (you must have the PM story import filter installed to do this - it is a
   default for the installer from memory, but you can reinstall it separately
   if needed)

4 All of the stories can be selected and imported *as one* (I think they are 
in alphabetical order)

5 After flowing, Choose File, Export - to Word 3 

All done!

The only hassle is the lack of style info - although you can export with
tags to overcome this - and the fact that the stories come out in alpha order
