From what I can tell, no one here wants something for nothing.  What people
want is to be free of the evil idea that a file format, that is, the specific
arrangement of bits on a disk, can be patentable--to the point where an
individual is prohibited from manipulating those bits to make something
intelligible to the human senses.

I see nothing wrong with wanting to be free of such evil and oppressive ideas.
 Oh, and Time Warner--you know that EMR you insist on propagating into my
backyard?  It's mine, and I'll manipulate it any damn way I please, even if I
_do_ decode the HBO from it.
