Calling Microsoft would be a much better way to register your comment,
posting it here does not ensure that anyone related to Microsoft will even
see it.

I agree that it would be nice if Word 5.X used the Microsoft folder
created by Excel 4. But since v5.1 is only an update to v5.0 it isn't very
reasonable to expect such a major change in the software. Word 6 is
supposed to be a ground up re-write of Word (like Excel 4 was supposed to
be) so I would expect Microsoft to include a major change like that in
that future (and sure to be costly) release of Word.
What I don't understand is why Excel 4 and Word 5 didn't share the
Microsoft folder in the first place. They were both being developed in the
same time frame but I guess the two development teams didn't share notes.
The Microsoft Help application certainly indicates that more and more
Microsoft products will be using this resource in the future. I just wish
they had put it in the System Folder so I could keep it next to my
'Claris' folder. (An aside: has anyone gotten their PowerPoint 3.0 for Mac
upgrade yet? Does it use the Microsoft folder?)
I won't ask anyone from Microsoft to reply because I already took the time
to call them, and express my opinion in person.
