I just got my upgrade to 5.1 today.  (About a week sooner than I had been
told by the MS rep!)  I haven't had a chance to install and use it, but
I figured for all of you anxious Word 5 users contemplating an upgrade, I
would give you a list of what has changed, according to the documentation.

1) Toolbar buttons palette--configurable with your most frequently used
   commands.

2) New envelope addressing features, with support for address lists.

3) Text annotations--allows others to make comments on your document, and
   put remarks so that they don't clutter your original document.  It uses
   annotation symbols, that can include the initials of the individual
   who created the annotation.  Double-click the annotation symbol, and the
   remarks appear in a separate window.

4) Drop caps--for those of you doing page layout in Word.  This allows you
   to make the first character of a paragraph large--the way you see in
   magazine articles, etc.

5) Direct support for including quicktime movies in documents.

6) A new graphing module, that allows you to create graphs/charts that allows
   you to create graphs as embedded objects--like figures and equations in
   Word 5.

7) Monitor the battery level in PBs via an icon in the ribbon.

8) Print even pages only or odd pages only (to allow double-sided printing).

9) a few other odds and ends.


So, now you have a better idea.  It looks like it's probably worth the
upgrade fee, particularly if the graph module turns out to be decent.
