Dollars and Sense 5.0 compression problem fixed yet?

I want to update to version 5.0 of D&$ but I do not like the fact that files
will continues to get larger through entropy (due to the broken "Save as"
compression function).

Does anyone know what the status is on this? Everyone that I have tried talking
to at software toolworks knows nothing about these issues.

When is the next release (5.1?) planned?

HAS ANYONE FIGURED OUT A WAY AROUND THIS BUG? If I could somehow do
compression, even if I needed to do it in some permuted fashion, it might still
be worth moving up to 5.0.
