A generous person on the net did send me a hypercard stack
(movie converter, I think) which will convert PICTs to a movie.
However, when I first tried to use it, it didn't work. As an
experiment, I went back to Quicktime 1.0 instead of 1.5: the
stack then ran, but would not make movies. I decided that my
version of Quicktime had been corrupted somehow, and installed a
new version of 1.5. At this point, the stack would create
movies.
However, I also discovered another method now that I have a
1.5 Quicktime which works. Many of the movies players will allow
creating movies from PICS files (there are at least two PD
players on various archives which will do this: I'm on the road
and don't have the names with me). NIH Image, which is a nifty
PD image manipulation / enhancement / modification utility, will
make PICS files from a stack of PICT files. I found this method
works well for me for at least some sequences of images, though
the hypercard stack is really nice to have as well.
