There are some things that using a computer is NOT the easiest and best way. The best way to start learning a language is to get a set of beginner tapes and listen to them often. Then use the language as much as possible. Tapes have the advantage of you can take them (almost) anywere (car, jogging, beach,etc.). If you use software, you are less likely to put in the time needed. Plus tapes are much cheaper. There are probably some situations where the software would be good- such as studying advanced grammer or learning technical terms and useage- but for a casual student of language, tapes and conversation groups are better.
