Would anyone know of a way to copy gif's or jpeg
images using DEC copy on a ethernet connection?
We have a mac lab at school, and have been downloading
these images using Kermit which is much too slow.
The macs are on a network attached to the VAX via
DEC net. When transferring files via net copy, gifs
and jpeg files can only be tranferred as ASCII
characters. Is there a utility to convert these
files? (Ive tried bin-hex. comp. pro. etc.) from
ascii or would it be easier trying to run X-modem
for the VMS, since we also have mac terminal running
on the network, but it only supports X-modem and not
Kermit. I am currently downloading some of the magellean
images which are quite large. Thanks
