In article <antkasx.724182252@gsusgi1.gsu.edu> antkasx@gsusgi2.gsu.edu (Ken A. Sturrock) writes: Claris ( to my knowledge ) has never failed to write nice programs. MacWrite II is a nice program, just a little limited. What features can we now expect in MacWrite Pro ( If you are at liberty to say )? Inquiring minds want to know. Well, MacUser wrote up a review of word processors that showed a preview of MacWrite Pro in September 1992. That sidebar showed the following features: - Post-It style notes that can be attached anywhere within a document - Tables - Character-based style sheets with a floating style palette - A floating Tools palette - A floating tools palette - Graphics frames - Section dividers - Publish & Subscribe There is also support for Add-It modules, to allow companies that make auxiliary programs to word processors directly available from with in MacWrite Pro (a la Word, Quark, etc). An example of these Add-Its could be a grammar checker (yech), math typesetting program, or footnote package like EndNote. On top of that, because of the section dividers, one new feature is being able to have multiple columns per section, rather than per document. Umm. Let's see. Oh yeah, if I remember correctly (please don't hold me to it, though), you can now also have as many documents open as memory permits. And the interface still only takes about 12 seconds to figure out, unlike some other more popular, feature-overloaded word processors. Anyway, that's what the MacUser sidebar showed, plus the things I've seen so far in the beta. There's probably more, and of course, there's always the possibility that if any of these features contains bugs that can't be repaired, the features might vanish from the release version. In other words, I can't guarantee you anything, but this is what appears to be new. -- -Nick "I live down the street from Apple, isn't that special" Triantos I may work in Claris Technical Support, but not when I'm logged in on the Internet... -- -Nick "I live down the street from Apple, isn't that special" Triantos I may work in Claris Technical Support, but not when I'm logged in on the Internet...
