PhotoDeluxe CD readable on 6100 but not iMac?

I've got an iMac SE running System 9.

I also bought a Umax 2000u scanner which came with Adobe's PhotoDeluxe on
CD, plus another CD housing drivers and other bits & pieces.

The driver CD installed no problem, but when I put the PhotoDeluxe CD into
the iMac SE, it just sat there for a minute or so, and then came up with the
usual 'can't be read' or 'can't be initialised' message. I restarted, tried
again, a few times in fact, and sometimes it would do the same, others it
would do nothing at all. I'd have to restart to eject the CD.

I've got the iMac networked (via a hub) to my old 6100/60AV, so I thought
I'd try installing PhotoDeluxe onto the iMac but from the 6100 CD drive.
Presto! It worked.

So if the CD-ROM worked in the 6100/60AV, presumably the problem isn't the
CD-ROM. But the iMac was able to read the driver CD-ROM (and all others I've
inserted to date), but just not the PhotoDeluxe CD.

Any clues?

Cheers

Apple has posted an update for the CD ROM drives in the iMac. Don't know
it you have/need it, but it's worth a check.

I assume CD ROM drivers for all the necessary formats have been installed?
