Liam,

4D 3.0 will be worth the upgrade. It has its own multi-tasking kernel,
allowing you to run multiple processes concurrently, such as
performing multiple data imports in different windows while
sorting and printing a large report in yet another window. The
multitasking technology used in the 4D kernel is rumored to be based
on the UNIX kernel.

The upgrade will not require a major rewrite. The only problems you
may encounter are with externals. Of course, you will need to add additional
code to your databases to take advantage of 4D 3.0's new multitasking
capabilities.

If you are running a multiuser database, then you will have to upgrade to
the 4D Server. 4D Server is multi-user 4D. 4D 3.0 is single-user 4D.

Best regards,
