Does anyone know of a simple, off-the-shelf solution that would be
appropriate
for inventory management?

This is for a situation where there are several hundred items that need to
be
checked out and/or reserved to be checked out by members of a group of
about
twenty people.  People in the group need to be able to see what items are
available for the time period when they would need it.

I guess this is very similar to running a library, except that reservations
need to be made for specific, non-overlapping time periods that can be up
to
several months in the future.

I had even thought about using Meeting Maker for this purpose, but there
must
be something a little better suited.  I don't want to spend the effort
creating
a full-blown relational database.
